Major platform update delivers streamlined administration, improved protocol performance, and previews next-generation MoQ streaming
MIAMI, FL – WINK Streaming today announced the release of WINK Forge 9.0, a major update to its enterprise video transcoding platform. This Fall 2025 release features a completely redesigned web interface, a next-generation media engine with significantly improved protocol performance across HLS, WebRTC, and SRT.
WINK Forge 9.0 features a completely redesigned administration interface focused on efficiency and ease of use. The new streamlined GUI consolidates navigation into an intuitive hamburger menu, providing seamless access to all system functions while reducing visual clutter. Administrators can now configure inputs, outputs, and system settings with fewer clicks and clearer workflows.
"Our customers manage hundreds of camera streams daily," said David Brown, Director of Engineering at WINK Streaming. "The new interface was designed from the ground up based on real-world feedback from traffic operations centers and security operations teams who need to make changes quickly during critical situations."
Under the hood, WINK Forge 9.0 introduces an entirely new media engine built for modern streaming requirements. The engine delivers substantial performance improvements across all transcoding operations while expanding codec and protocol support.
WINK Forge 9.0 delivers meaningful performance improvements across all supported protocols. RTSP, RTMP, HLS, MPEG-DASH, WebRTC, and SRT all benefit from the new media engine's optimized processing pipeline. New RTP test modes (96, 97, 98) provide advanced troubleshooting for complex input scenarios.
Alongside the Forge 9.0 release, WINK Streaming is showcasing an alpha preview of Media over QUIC (MoQ) protocol support. This next-generation streaming protocol achieves 200-300ms latency - significantly faster than traditional HLS - while maintaining reliability over unpredictable networks. The MoQ implementation is currently available for testing and evaluation.

Accompanying the release, WINK Streaming has published an extensively updated Technical Manual covering all aspects of WINK Forge 9.0. The documentation includes detailed guidance on video filters, audio processing, protocol overhead optimization, and CPU performance tuning.
WINK Forge 9.0 is available immediately as a free firmware update for all customers with active support agreements. The update can be applied to existing WINK Forge 900PS Series appliances and V-Forge virtual deployments. New customers can request evaluation licenses through the WINK Streaming website.
